Hemangioma
A hemangioma is the most common form of tumour in infants. It is a benign tumour that grows from cells that line blood vessels (endothelial cells). They are, therefore, filled with blood. They can appear on the surface of the skin or under it; they can also grow inside the body, on internal organs.
The cause of hemangiomas is unknown. Most times, hemangiomas disappear without treatment, usually by the time the child turns 10 years old. Some might require surgery, depending on the location on the body. There are also additional treatment options, such as beta-blocker propranolol.
