Company Profile:
Moldflow develops plastic injection molding software.
Dwell is a pause in the mould closing cycle of a compression moulding operation to permit gas to escape from the moulding material.

Dynamic flow is the flow before the cavity is actually full, when a flow front still exists towards the end of the cavity. This results in an area within the mould without plastic.

Ejection is the removal of moulded parts from the mould by mechanical means, or with compressed air.
Industry:Software
Ejection temperature is the averaged temperature of the part at the time it is ejected from the mold. A moulded part should be ejected only when it has enough strength to undergo the force of ejection, without excessive warpage or marks from ejector pins. The ejection temperature depends on the resin, part thickness, application, and shop floor practice. A part ejected at a higher temperature can reduce the cooling time, but may increase warpage.
Industry:Software
Ejection time is the moment when the mould opens to eject the part. For example, an ejection time of 42 seconds indicates that 42 seconds elapsed from the moment the mould closes for injection until the moment the mould opens for ejection.
Industry:Software
Ejector pins are located on the mould and push the part out of the mould when the clamp is open.
Industry:Software
Dark coloured brown or silver streaks can be caused by thermal damage to the material during filling, or inadequate tool venting. Rectify the venting system, or reduce the injection speed or pressure to avoid dark streaks.
Industry:Software
Rough and mat streaks can be caused by differential shrinkage or premature freezing of glass-filled material against the mould wall. Using shorter glass fibers, increasing melt temperature, or increasing mould wall temperature may help solve the problem.
Industry:Software
Usually occurs because of different orientation of the pigments in the flow, or poor blending in the plastication stage.
Industry:Software
A defect on the surface of a moulded part. Sink marks are caused mainly by thermal contraction (shrinkage) during packing, if the temperature and pressure are not controlled correctly. They can occur on the opposite side from ribs or bosses because the additional thickness causes increased contraction.
